Default Recent interview with Outdoor Pursuits Radio

I recently had an opportunity to join Thomas Allen's Outdoor Pursuits Radio for a conversation about muskies. I joined the show about 1/2 hour into his segment. The conversation begins with Thomas sharing his story about the recent 53 1/2" he caught on Vermilion. His story was a perfect segue into an aspect of musky fishing I love, the requisite perserverance and dedication it takes to succeed. From there, we talked about Mille Lacs '10, new trends in lures and patterns, upcoming patterns and how to fish them, season highlights, etc. Thomas has a great show and I wish I could catch the online version more often. Heck, I can barely keep up with e-mail, so I'll have to catch more of his show this winter. Just because his show is in Iowa (and Minnesotans like teasing Iowa) doesn't mean Outdoor Pursuits isn't worth a listen. The show has been interesting even when they're talking about waterfowl, turkeys, deer, and other critters I don't pursue much.

You can catch my recent conversation with Thomas, find out more about his show, and read his blog at:

Looking at Thomas's list of past shows, I couldn't help but notice that he also recently interviewed Kevin Van Dam. Hmmmm... I know there's some old expression about the company one keeps, but I can't seem to come up with it. Anyway, I'm not really saying, but...

Hey bud I listened to the show and you made some good points. You kept making the comments about what makes muskies so special and you did a good job describing the drama. Thomas starts to introduce you at around 33:40. You sounded wierd and were hard to hear at first, but good show. I bet you're burned he cracked the 50 mark on Vermilion, but great for him.

I'm glad I wasn't eating cereal when I read your last comment or it wouldve flown out my nose. A pimple on KVD's ass could out fish you. Bwaaaahhahaaha ah but he doesn't fish muskies and he's not on Mille Lacs, so who cares about him. Keep up the good work.

Hey! Well OK, KVD's ass pimple might beat me on bass, but if we were fishing for muskies I think I'd match up pretty evenly. Well, at least on Mille Lacs muskies anyway.

I heard I sounded funny at the beginning of a previous show too, but was more like myself further into the conversation. I was even told I sounded Canadian. Ouch! It's probably true though, I was a little tense at the start. I'm a guy that fishes a lot, not a radio personality.
