Wow... we had a 2 day cold front last week that pushed daytime highs into the mid 70's and night time lows to below 60 degrees. It felt so nice and the cold front didn't seem to have much impact on the fishing. The rest of the week was mid 80's for highs and featured the occasional short lasting down pour of rain. Guests have been really pleased with the weather, for most it is 10 degrees cooler then home, yet warm enough to swim and play on the water.

Lake Trout - Best fish was 14.5 pound Lake Trout caught trolling. We had three groups trolling for the Lake Trout and all did pretty well. The Jigging groups found modest bites at times, but limits and meals of Lake Trout were easily found. Several 8 - 10 pound Lake Trout were also found, but they don't taste quite as good as the 4 pounders

Bass fishing groups found some 2-4 pound bass on Kakagi (Crow) Lake mostly on live bait - worms and leeches. Drop-off edges, points and outer edges of weeds were most productive.

Walleye bite was solid most of the week and included catch and release for many Walleyes over 4 pounds from Lake of the Woods during the cold front. Seemed like the Walleye bite moved around a little in that bigger fish bite some days and smaller fish others. All of the Walleye groups were pretty happy.

Northern Pike fishing on Whitefish Bay was solid with biggest for the week being a 38" and 36" along with good numbers of smaller Pike. Live bait was popular along with some spinner and crankbait.

Muskies - no one targeting them for very long, but seeing some nice Muskies in the short evening efforts. One big Muskie was lost and a few other unidentified big fish were lost.

Swimming and tubing were again popular activities to beat the heat on the hot days. The 70+ degree waters on Kakagi are fairly deep this year which is great for swimming and tubing in the weeks ahead.

Regards,
