Default Winnipeg River Update - July 28/10

I spent a day sturgeon fishing with Bob Barnes yesterday. Bob has spent over 10 years trying to catch a Master Angler sized fish for every species in Manitoba. With 20 specialist awards already under his belt, Bob caught his 23rd species yesterday, leaving only a handful left on the list! We boated 13 sturgeon with the biggest being a healthy 48"er.

With the action we had yesterday, the sturgeon fishing should remain consistent for another week or two. The water temps were 72 degrees which is usually a little warm for their liking, however there were many fish jumping in the area so it doesn't seem they have moved deep for the summer yet.

Hey Andrew been checking your site for years now you have lots of great information thx. Im going to be fishing for some muskie Sept long weekend and I'm thinking about trying the Moore bay area. I have only been fishing LOTW a few times so taking it a small step at a time. I know this is short notice but are you available any day that weekend? If not would you be able to offer some information that would help. THX again

    Hi there,
Thanks for the kind words about the site. I've been on the water almost every day this month so I'll try to get a recent update on here this afternoon! Moore Bay is an interesting area, seems most of the fish aren't on the obvious spots and tend to hang around the secondary structure in the area.
I am available that weekend so if you'd like to give me a call at (204) 918-8403, we can try to arrange a trip. I just got back in town yesterday and I'm leaving tomorrow for just over a week so getting in touch over the phone would probably be the easiest thing.

    Thanks!
