Weather on Mille Lacs for the past 10 days or so has been wet and cold. It seems like its been ages since we've had stable warming conditions.
Lake Conditions: Water temps are in the low 60's...(lost 4-5 degrees in surface temp) Water clearity good 3-4 feet. Lake levels rising slowly as we've had 2-3 inches of rain this week.
Fished with Fritz Piel and Mark Kruger both experienced anglers. Mother nature delt us windy, overcast and falling water temps making fishing tough. We caught about 10 smallmouths and 3 bonus walleyes. Big fish for the day was a 4 pound 8 ounce smallie Marks personal best. All fish were caught on soft plastics fished near the botton with a slow presentation.
We noticed that the high winds and waves from a few days earlier, pushed the bass out of the shallows flats.
Forcast: Stable weather and warming water temps are needed to bring the fish back shallow. Look for an improved bite once good weather returns.
