The water on Vermilion continues to be clear as ever since the recent cold weather has slowed down the weed/algee growth. During the past several days it appears many of the female smallmouth has vanished from the shallows and are probably recouperating from the spawn.

Today we boated nearly 40 fish but nothing of any size. The key to getting bit was to use a floating jighead and a split-shot tossed into the shallows and tipped with half a leech. If you didn't cut the leach in half, the sunfish would steal it every time.

The weather rolled in around noon and it's been raining ever since. I'm taking Wednesday off but I have a trip booked for Thursday and I'll keep you posted with the conditions.
