Recently, I picked up a sponsorship from Lamaglas rods. They sent me several rods designed specificly for drop shotting, wacky-rigging, etc. These rods have amazing feel and allow me to detect every rock and subtle bite. It's a shame I never experimented with the shaky-head technique years before because it's simple and very effective.

The water clearity on many of the lakes I fish is scary-clear right now. The fish are easily spooked during the day so try to enter your fishing spots quietly and cast as far away from the boat as possible. I have several guide trips during the next week that wish to target smallies and I will keep you informed on which technique comes out on top. Will it be the humble tube, a sinking minnow, a hair jig with a craw trailer, or a jerkbait? Only time will tell but odds are we'll try them all. Stay tuned for the results!
