    Default Lake Gogebic

Does anybody know anything about this lake (Lake Gogebic)? A friend of mine said he fished this lake with a guide a couple weeks ago, and they were hammering the perch. He said the perch averaged 14-15 inches.

The guide told him the monster perch were tough to find, but when you do find them, you can limit out.

Anyone with experience on this lake?

    Default Lake Gogebic..........

Years ago I taught walleye schools on Lake Gogebic with Mike Theyerl when we worked for Fishing Hot Spots during there Event program. That was in the early 90's. Since then, a law was pasted in Michigan making it illegal for Wisconsin guides to guide in Gogebic and Iron Counties.

One of the local Eagle River guides found that to be true the hard way and was busted guiding ice fishing a few years ago during a sting operation. It was an expensive situation for the Tadpole.

Consequently, I don't know anyone from this area that goes there to guide. If you find someone here that will guide you, be advised, he is doing it illegally.

Ah, I see. They must not want all our excellent Wisconsin fisherman cleaning out their U.P. lakes... That's too bad for the guide that got stung!

But you don't know of any hot spots where these legendary giant perch can be found? We have a GPS unit with a Navionics chip for the midwest. Do you think that would be of assistance?

Dure the chip will help you somewhat, but until those big perch get out in deep enough water, they will scatter as you drive over them. There is not a depthfinder made that will read a fish if it does not stay in the cone angle. After 8 to 10 feet deep you will be able read the fish, mark them and turn around and fish them.
