After seeing a setback in numbers and quality of fish last Sunday, we rebounded nicely with catches of a two-person limit on Wednesday AM with 13 fish, Wednesday PM 14 fish, Thursday AM 22 fish, Thursday PM 16 fish, Friday AM 9 fish, Saturday AM 20 fish, Sunday AM, 22 fish; finishing off the weekend with back-to-back, four-person limits for the family from Iowa that had an overnight in between.

We were all but limited out in the cooler for most of the other trips except for Thursday AM where we were 3 fish shy and a weather post-poned Friday AM trip where we only managed 9. 9 still isn't bad but of course I wish we were well into double digits on that day as well.

Excellent mixed bags of Chinook and Coho Salmon are being taken with some really big Chinook (Kings) in there too. Saturday PM for example we had four Chinook that were between 14 and 20lbs each! The 20'lber is the biggest of the season so far for us and I actually have not heard of anybody else in the harbor taking one that big yet either.

It's unusual for us to be catching this many Chinook this early in the season but we are loving it and as a result we are outfitting our tackle and gear selection in this direction to catch these Kings while still having plenty of Coho baits in the water to capitalize there as well. Late last season we experienced an awesome offshore bite for non-spawning Chinook and we were hoping this was a sign for things to come for the 2010 season. From what we have seen so far, this theory has held true and we can only hope that this trend remains.

We have been on the water for five straight days and will continue to fish the next four, straight through with a day off Friday to re-fuel (literally and figuratively!). A charter-packed, three-day Memorial Day weekend lies ahead after that.
