    Default MN Opener-Leech Lake!

    Hi all,

This weather sure has been great, and the walleyes cooperated on Saturday of Opening Weekend! I went up fishing after work with my PMTT partner Aaron Templin, his friend Joe, and our good friend Joe Andersen, and we boated around 23 walleyes up to 23" in length. Snap jigging in the deeper weeds was the ticket, and both Joe Andersen and Aaron put on a clinic with this technique using 1/8 ounce Ken Katch bucktail jigs tipped with Spottail Shiners. I caught several nice fish around 16", but I lost one well over twenty that just came off for whatever reason!

On Sunday, Joe Andersen tied into a 44" musky using the same technique and he was able to land the fish on walleye gear! Great pictures of this battle, courtesy of his brother Jeff Andersen of Baxter.
