Hello Everyone, This is Cathy from Aquatic Arts Fishing Pro Shop right here in Tomahawk. This beautiful weather here in the Northwoods has really turned the bite back on!! Bluegills have returned to their spawning grounds and are fanning their beds. You can find them in any weedy bay on all area lakes and they are definitely hungry!! Use waxworms on a 1/32 oz jighead or a plain hook. Leaf Worms or pieces of crawlers are working just as well. If you really want to have some fun, try using a 12ft cane pole or fly rod with some poppers. Either way, you are sure to catch a great meal!! Crappies have returned to the shallows as well and can be found near submerged stumps and timber preparing to spawn. Crappie minnows have been their choice meal. Tip a Chippewa Charlie feather jig with one below a slip bobber and you are sure to ctach some nice slabs. Perch can be found up on the mud flats around the stumps. You want to use Timber Jigs with a beavertail. Timber Jigs work awesome because they have a light wire guard which keeps you from getting snagged, which I know is a real pain!! Once again we are finding walleyes early in the morning along weed edges using Rapala X-Raps and Live Target Lures. We had some beautiful walleyes this week up to 25 inches. During the day, fish drop-offs near structure. Timber No -Snagg jigs tipped with a large to Jumbo sized leech have been producing some nice sized mid-day fish. Bass season isn't open yet but you can sure have a great time catching them. Smallies have been warming up on the rock bars during the day, just waiting for their next meal. Plastic pre-rigged worms and twister tails on 1/8-1/4 oz jigs will sure trigger them to bite. Largemouth have moved into the shallow bays and are also getting ready to spawn along with the bluegills. Topwater lures like Jitterbugs, Chug Bugs and Highrollers have been catching some nice sized fish. It looks like we all have a great week of fishing ahead of us!!! Well, thats all for today, this has been your weekly fishing update with Catch em Cathy. For daily fishing updates, log onto fishtomahawk.com.
