Thread: Weekend Fishin Update

    Default Weekend Fishin Update

Good reports on Perch, Crappie and Walleye.
Crappies still deep but this nice weather will bring them into the shallows. Slip bobbers with a small jig or #6 Gold hook set between 5 to 6 feet fished in 9 to 12 feet of water.
Anglers are fishing the stump filled bays for Perch, small jigs tipped with beaver tails or small fatties. Nice Perch up to 12 inches.
Bluegills are starting to show up in the shallows again, these fish are real spooky right now so you need to sneak in and use a weighted bobber for casting distance such as a Rocket Bobber and a small piece of crawler.
Walleye's did very well with the largest being a 25.5 inch beauty. Timber Jigs and Tuffies caught most of the eyes this weekend.
    Good Luck when you go!

Any info out there on what to expect for the musky opener at the end of the month. Have the fish spawned? What's the water temp like? Any fish chasing the walleye and panfish people are catching?

Water temps by our docks is 59 degree's this morning. Temps are hitting the 80's by the weekend so water temps will climb fast. Talking to the guides they think the musky opener will be one of the best in a long time. Lots of muskies chasing after walleye's and crappies on the hook.

I'll be fishing Lake Mohawksin from the 21st through the 28th this month. If I'm reading the regs correctly....

Bass - Catch and release only
Pike - Bag limit of 5 - No minimum size
Walleye - Bag limit of 5 - 15" minimum size
    Musky - Closed
Panfish - Bag limit of 25 - no minimum size

    IS THIS CORRECT ??

Got back on Saturday from fishing Alice. Its to bad we could get a good break from the weather but boy the Northerns were hitting. We caught 40 fish between the 3 of us and the biggest being a 37" northern.

Wow nice Pike action Supra, that had to be a blast.
The walleye limit on Mohawksin is 2 fish at 15 inches, but from the bridge by our store up to Kings Dam it is 5 at 15 inches.
