    Default Lake Wausau Smallmouth

I went out fishing yesterday looking forward to catching a couple smallmouth bass and maybe a post spawn walleye or two. The smallmouth fishing went better than I expected, catching over a dozen smallies ranging in length from the smallest 14 inches to the biggest 19 inches! The fishing was phenomenal within the first 10 casts we already boated 7. The depths that we were finding these fish in was 4-8 feet of water. A majority of these fish were cought on a # 7 Shallow Dinving Rap, Perch color. That has been a key bait on the river or in the lake for the past couple years for these spring time smallies. I am hoping to get out after this front that moves threw today to see if i can get back on the BITE.

The recent cold has pushed the fish out a bit deeper than they have been, although they're still biting once you get on 'em. Tubes have worked well, have also caught fish Carolina Rigging plastics such as Gulp, Powerbait, and Trigger X.

    Tight lines,
