Walleye Bite is on

The walleye bite is on in the western basin of Lake Erie. We have been consistently taking limit catches jig fishing using purple or black hair jigs with trailer hooks an no bait. The size has been in the 3 to 4 lb range and all males. We have only caught one female this season and gently released it back into the lake. There have been very few throw backs under 15 in. to date. The walleye look very healthy and full of fight. The picture shows an example of the nice fish being caught.
