Thread: Almost a State Record!!

    Default Almost a State Record!!

Just received this via e-mail, Chad's on the water so I'm posting it in his behalf, Very Nice Fish! Congrats

This past Saturday, I boated my biggest Kinkaid muskie to date. Although I couldn't stretch her out to be 50", she measured at 49 7/8 and had a girth of 25.5 inches. We figured that might be really close to beating the current state record of 38 lbs 8 oz. Therefore, we called our fisheries biologist to come out to the lake with a certified scale. Unfortunately, she fell one pound, one oz short. She weighed in at 37.4 pounds. Still a great fish though, and it was great to see her swim away.

    Chad

    Thanks

Thank you very much for all the kind comments. It sure was a blast catching that pre-spawn fattie!! I just wished she would of eaten a couple more shad before I caught her. It would of been so freaking cool to be able to get a state record verified by the biologist, and let her go! That would of been a first!!

We still have a couple more weeks of pre-spawn fishing to go, so lets hope it happens. It will obviously take a fish of 51" or bigger with atleast a 26" girth.

Chad .. Pete paid me a visit and we were looking at this beautiful fish. I cant believe how clean it is, not a mark on her. Congratulations on your catch. I wish it would of worked out that we could of come down this spring. I've been out a couple of times up here but nothing yet. Hope this is the beginning of a great year for all. Hope to run into you sometime this season. If your plans bring you to the Chip this year you can always stay with Pete and I. Again congrats and best wishes to you and your family.
