White Bear Lake has basically been the lake of the winter thus far. Since the DNR stocked so many walleyes this year for the governer's opener, many ice anglers are cashing in with many great catches. White Bear has definetly been the best walleye bight this year. In addition to the great walleye action, the crappie bite has been good. I have heard of up to 13" crappies being caught recently and there have been many 10" to 11" caught if you get away from the people on the lake and figure out your own spot.
Centerville lake has been great too. Andrew, a great kid that works for Blue Ribbon, recently limited out on sunfish and crappies with manly of the sunfish weighing 7 to 8oz.
The St. Croix has been ok for some anglers. It seems you need to spend a lot of time to catch a few nice crappies in the main channel. Additionally, The power plant in Bayport has been shut off and turned back on again lately, which has made the fishing near there unpredictable. I would wait for it to be on for a while straight before heading down to that spot.
