Ice conditions are improving and slush is firming up. Travel on most lakes is still limited to foot, ATV, and snowmobile, a few trucks on some lakes but still not recomended. Northern Pike have been very active in and around weeds in 10 feet of water or less. Using large Shiners under tipups has been producing the best for me. I have been looking for holes in the weeds or the weed edge and keeping the bait fairly high in the water column. Walleye have been active in the afternoon and evening with the best bite near sundown. Small to Med. suckers or shiners under Tipups placed a foot or two off bottom have been getting the bite. Also jigging spoons or Jigging Raps have been getting some fish.
Perch have been holding in the weeds 10 feet or less and on the mud flats in 20-30 feet of water. Small minnows and waxies are working good on small jigs. Bluegills and Crappies have been holding in and around weeds in 15 feet of water or less normally suspending in the water column. Small minnows and waxies have been producing. Mobility has been the key to catching fish and using your electronics to pinpoint where they are.
Good luck to all
