Ice is still iffy with a few snowmoblie trails opening on a few select lakes. Caution is still advised with thin ice in areas and large slush areas after the last dumping of snow. Fishing shore lines and bays has provided Walleye and Northern Pike action.
Walleye have been using weed edges and break edges in 3-15 feet of water. Use small Shiners or Walleye suckers under a tipup for the low light periods. Sunset and later have been producing the best bite.
Northern Pike have been feeding actively in and around the weeds in 3-10 feet of water. Use a large Shiner or Sucker under a tipup for best results. Set your tipup in weed pockets or just above the weeds even if that means setting 2 feet down in 10 feet of water. Remember Walleye and Northerns eyes are on the top of their head so they normally feed up, not down.
Good luck to all
