Heavy snow weighing down the thin ice, insulating and preventing proper
ice freeze up. Anglers must use extream caution when heading out ice fishing in the Eagle River area. Ice is not yet safe.
Most area lakes are still showing 2-3 inches of ice and some areas 3-4 inches with 15 inches of snow on top. This will cause slush and slow growth of the ice we need for snowmobles and ice fishing. Time is the only thing that can help us now. Some anglers are venturing out with mixed reports of Walleye, Perch and Norhern Pike. Caution is the key be safe out there.
