With the current cold weather the lakes are freezing up nicely. Got out on a few area landings yesterday and found that most of the lakes are not quite ready. Most of the lakes I checked had 1-2 inches out from the landing with a couple in the 3 inch range. I did talk to a few ice fishermen that were out but their fishing locations were very limited and they were confined to a small area in most cases. Use caution for the next few weeks especially with the snow they are calling for this week. A few things you should have with you when you go out is a long rope, ice picks, life jacket on, spud bar, and a change of dry cloths in the truck just in case.
Good luck to all and be safe.
