Thread: Area Lakes Report

  1. Default Area Lakes Report

The past couple of weeks the bites have been spotty with all the weather changes at times although there has been a decent catch rates at times.
I have been doing better on the madison chain than on delavan or geneva lakes. The smallmouth bass and walleye have become very active on lake mendota and monona this past week. On trips last week we caught (17) smallmouth bass six over eighteen inches over rocky areas and (7) walleye three over eighteen inches. I have been doing well on basic jigs, split shot/hooks and suspending stickbaits for walleyes during lowlite periods.
I have had a couple reports from my musky fishing buddies that they are doing well casting and trolling on waubesa and monona. Their last six hours late in the afternoon they caught (3) musky 31" - 45" All these bite should be getting better as the water temps. continue to cool.
The last trip on delavan lake found the bite really slow for me in shallower water working livebait rigs and spinner baits. I found alot of big non biteing fish marks suspended over deep looking for suspended crappies.
