    Default Brainard Lakes Minnesota

I am fortuneate enough to be able to go to several Northwoods locations a year with fishing buddies and family. We are all . We fell in love with the Chip many years ago because of the wilderness feel, lack of many cabins and resorts and the wildlife (not that kind Snizz) you always see on and off the water. Not to mention the great fishing with TY. One guy in our group wants to add a trip to the Brainard Minnesota Area next year. Does anyone know of an area, or lake in that area that resembles the Chip for its same qualities. That being lower amount of cabins around the shore, fewer pontoon boats and of course the hotter lakes for fishing (does not have to include muskie-we will still hit the Chip and Ty for that) Any help will be appreciated. Rip

Just drive north for another hour or so and go to Leech Lake.

The Brainerd/Baxter area is pretty big (it's a 75 min commute from the metro area). Nearby Mile Lacs is a great lake to fish, but the scenery you want is not there, although any fish you want to catch is.
