Water temps have now started to drop and are about 59 degrees in the Detroit River. This will start the fall run of fish migrating thru, which include musky and walleyes. Look for musky fishing to heat up as they intercept schools of shad. Try fishing rock/weed areas, rocks will hold the heat of the fall sun and this will hold the muskies.
Casting, trolling and jigging are all effective ways to catch musky in the fall. Larger baits, like inline spinners and cranks will work well. Water clarity will determine color.

Walleye fishing will slowing change from a harness bite to a crankbait bite as the temps drop and the walleyes will begin to feed for the winter. Reef Runners and Husky Jerks are great baits to use. As the temps drop slow the speeds down. Breast Bay in Michigan is a great spot for fall walleyes.

Look for the bass on Lake St. Clair to move shallow 2-5 fow. Try casting rattle traps and jerk baits to locate fish. Other good choices once fish have been located is a Senko or tube.
Natural colors work well when the water is clear. Mitchells Bay along the Stakes at Wapole Island is a great place to fish. The mile roads along the Michigan shore and the many areas next to the river mouths along the Ontario side will produce bass. This is a great time to land a trophy!

This wk Oct 8-10 I will be competing in the Masters Walleye Circuit-World Walleye Championship with my fishing partner Steve Velte. 40 top teams from across the mid west will be fishing the Detroit River and Lake Erie.
