Yesterday we headed out to Northwest Reef in search for Jumbo Yellow Perch, We only ended up with our limit 125, however Jumbo Perch were few in far between. We used Tibbel's rigs tipped with Lake Erie Shiners, basically just like a crappie rig, in-line with 1.5 Oz's weight. With the hard ENE winds from the night before we ended up with a nice bunch of tasty Perch. Walleye fishing in the Western Basin has come to a screaching halt, I had several good charter captains who went for Walleye and they ended up with a duck egg. The Erie Drifter Team will be moveing the Boat to Catawba Island this week, docked at Catawba Landing Marina. We will stay here for the remainder of the season till ice in. The reason for docking here instead of say Huron or Vermillion OH is that if we get strong winds we can duck in behind Kelley's Island or the Bass Islands and if we need to run to Vermillion the boat is very economical and faster than most. Also the Night Walleye Fishing is on fire around Kelley's Island .
