Just and FYI...

2009 is an off year for the state to stock fish on Big St. Germain. The Lake District is stocking 6 to 9 inch walleyes(as many as we can get $$ for) in October.

This(larger size fingerlings)will help ensure that these walleyes don't become perch and crappie food.

Ray and I are also donating the procedes from our ice tournament to the stocking of walleyes.

Anyone would has spent time on Big St over the last couple of years can see the explosion of perch and crappies....these fish need to eat too, however young of the year walleye and their fry become easy meals.....we could turn our backs and watch the lake take care of itself over the next 10 years, but stocking larger fingerlings every 2 years will speed up the process and also knock down the over abundance of small perch.
