Lake Delavan game fishing the past week has been very good for numbers of fish and some big fish mixed in. Largemouth bass have been caught right on the weedlines in twelve to fifteen feet of water on livebait rigs. A dropshot rigged crawler or leech has been producing the best for me. We have done well at times when fish are very active on a 4" finnesse worm while making short casts right on the weedlines, and keeping the line tight as possible for a good feel of a lite bite. The northern pike have been active in fifteen to twenty feet of water with most caught while drifting lindy rigged suckers. Fair numbers of walleyes have been caught during low light periods while trolling crankbaits or spinners. Drifting those same livebait rigs mentioned above has been working the best. For those looking for panfish most of the action has gone deeper in twenty to twenty-five feet of water, look for the most active schools in twenty three feet on water where a plain hook and redworm/hellgermite has been working well.
The largest game fish the past week in the boat:
largemouth bass 20"
northern pike 37"
walleye 25"
The fish catching should only get better during the transition to fall takes place and the water cools.
