Lake Conditions: Surface water temps 67-70 degrees and warming. Water Clarity continues to improve 2-3 feet, Water Color light green. Weather patterns stable last 6 days.

Fishing continues to improve with this high pressure weather system that has settled in the last few days. Spent everyday last week (except Fri) on the water and found the bite to improve each day. The bite got better mid morning thru the evening. Last Thursday fished with Kurt Lee from White Bear Lake and fishing was slow in the am picking up an occassional fish here and there. Around 2pm we hit pay dirt. For the first time this season we got onto a school of fish. In a two hour period of time we caught and released about 30 fish of all class sizes. Largest was around 4.5 lbs. Fish wanted the baits fished very slow....I mean slow, slow, slow. The fish were staging at the bottom of a 6 foot drop, if the bait didnt touch the bottom and stay in contact of the bottom...you wouldnt get bit. I think the smallies are beginning to get on their fall pattern of schooling in tight groups.

We welcome this week 30+ anglers from the Chicago area who will be fishing Mille Lacs and surrounding small lakes this entire week. This trip is sponsored by our radio show "The Fishing Line and Outdoor Radio Show" www.FishingLineRadio.com.
