quick trip

took a quick run up to bait my bear set up and get in some quick fishing. Again I chose to try and force the topwater bite and I did roll one 'ski last night on a Hawg Wobbler - great "slow" surface bait. Faster stuff drew a blank. This a.m. I hit the river for whatever would respond, the water is higher but the fish were pretty tight - did manage 3 smallies 14 - 16.5" on bucktails, and had some swat at big plastics but they weren't really eating it. Walking through the woods along the river, there was a spot I passed through twice where there was a very strong smell much like human B.O. - wondering if it was a bear had me looking over my shoulder. Maybe I just need a shower.

Just like Capt. Phil on the Deadliest Catch, "I can smell that crab s*&^, we'll set our pots here". I know some that claim they can smell bear when they have been in the area. I know I can't unless they are down!!!
