Hello Anglers and fellow guests of North Shore Lodge. With week 4 approaching and another very successful week 3 gone by as fast as a muskie strike, fishing the four main species Walleye, Northern, Smallmouth Bass and Muskie have all been fantastic.
With the water temp getting warmer each week and now hovering between 72 to 74 degrees the white tip Walleyes are starting to move to the shallow rock piles in depths of 10’ to 18’. Although still no shortage of abundance in shallow waters of 6’ to 8’ through cabbage weeds or on the tips of shallow points. Jigs and minnows along with Little Joe Spinners seem to still be the most successful.
As for hard fighting Northern Pike and the strength of those Smallmouth Bass fishing along weedlines and shallow shorelines, shows quantities and quality of sizes being caught each week leaving more and more of smiles on our guests faces. Crankbaits, Spinnerbaits, Mepps Spinners and Minnows are definitely the hot bait.
Now for those looking to hook into that big fish also known of the fish of 10 thousand casts, yes Muskie the season is finally open. M&G Spinner baits, Double Bladed Cowgirls, Bucktails or Shallow Invaders are just some of the hot Lures in trying to retrieve that fish of a lifetime. Fishing along shallow shorelines and finding pockets of thick cabbage weed are where those territorial fish can be found this time of season. However do not count out the Little Joe Spinner or just a plain jig and minnow on landing your first lake monster.
Last week the temps were in the mid 70’ to mid 80’s. Very little rain with sun most of the week.
Check out the Big Fish Board and check out the massive amount of trophy size fish listed for last week.
