    Default Lake Wausau

There may be someone on this site who could help you but you may want to search for another website. Lake Wisconsin is quite a ways away from Wausau WI. Lake Wausau and Lake DuBay, both on the WI River, are more in our back yard.

You are correct in stating water levels are up. Lots of dams have many gates open so be careful out on the river. Lots of floating debris.

Thanks Joe. After getting the actual address for the cottage in dekora it looks like it is just inside the mouth of the river from the main lake. Not sure how or why it is listed the way it is but the address is in poynette wi.

That was good news for me. Also the boat launch is adjacent to the property. Being that I will be with my 13 yr old that will be really convientent. Seeing as he has not operated this boat and really should not be driving my truck this will be a bonus for us.

I was curious on what baits for walleyes would be good for this time of the year? Years ago when I fished this lake with my dad we used fat rapps or shad rapps when trolling. I would think these would still be good baits but what else would be good to use? I would like to pick up some stuff before we head up.

I have a bunch of lures for musky and pike. I was thinking about getting some jigs and what not if we decide to do some drift fishing or some crappie, pearch or gill fishing. Any other advise would be great.

Also what other forums are there that would be better for what I'm doing here. Thank you for your time. Vince

    Default Some help

The guides here may be able help with general techniques, but not sure if they fish Lake WI.

Maybe try the Castle Rock Flowage forum. I see you're on the Madison Area forum but with no replies.

Shap Raps work great for walleye on the river.

    Default Lake Wisconsin

    Vince,

I fished lake WI a few years ago in a Walleye Tournament. All of the fish that were caught were on #7 Shad Raps, and #5 and #7 Jointed Shad Raps. I was there in early september and walleye's were slow the fish we targeted were saugers. Most of the fish in the lake were off of old channel breaks, I fished some of the holes up in the river, anywhere there was hard bottom and rock. Maybe this will help.
