I didn't move a fish all day yesterday, water was 68.
So I was up working on my shack for a couple days, the ticks are bad, the mosquitoes are not a factor yet, but there are all sorts of big flies ramping up. Good news, there were tons of dragonflies.
I bet a thermacell inside one of those gazebos would do a nice job. I've had the pit toilet torture test... not cool. Whatever you do, there is no such thing as overkill for the bugs you'll likely...
I always liked the site to the east or the Rat lake entrance. Not much traffic, good smallie fishing surrounds you, nightly loon serenade, good breeze but also a nice, protected bay for the boats. ...
My mistake in that I forgot the flowage is in the "no minimum size" category and as such the 20 - 24" slot would not apply here.
I thought the restriction on not keeping anything between 20 - 24 inches also represented a change. I honestly don't see that any of this matters, as the elephant is never leaving the room.
I brought my 11 y.o. son up with me for a planned 3 day trip. We fished today and got a nice mix of jumbo perch, bass, rockies, small pike, a few bluegills, and 1 crappie. The one gill I cleaned...
On Monday evening, the bugs were ungodly thick... as bad as they have ever been. Then, the air changed - got drier, not really cooler, but drier. Made all the difference - minimal buggage. I will...
Fished the shallow mudflats, targeting wood, using very small jigs tipped either with worm, fathead, gulp, or trigger x. All bait worked well. Caught over a hundred perch with probably a dozen 12"...
If people haven't seen the old creaky barn, they missed their chance.
"Woke up on the wrong island", now that's a classic! Up north is for fun, so have fun... and for people that don't like it, go to a meeting or something. My vote is for Midway, and get a driver...
I fished humps out on the big water last winter - all smallies, actually got some big ones. Fun, but frustrating when you are looking for 'eyes, perch, or northern.
Fished the river via canoe with my young son. Good water level, no problems there. Caught about 20 smallies, most of these were 15 - 16.5", no muskies, no walters. Lots of sturgeon breaching and...
you need a stand up or high rise pedestal, and a pedestal seat. Look again, Cabelas has several to choose from. I actually will put my pedestal in the back of the boat for rough water rides - you...
just got back from 2 days of fishing with my kids. rafts of mayflies. not 1 walleye, decent perch, or any other panfish except rock bass. smallmouths, on the other hand, were pretty active and we...
There are 2 groups right now on the south end (R7 and 10) that have 4 and 5 boats a piece, multiple tents and carport - style awnings, clearly large groups.
Fished Mon. eve thru Wed. Very windy most of the time, cold front dropped water temp to 61 on Tues. morning and that shut down the panfish. Found a few walleye on a deep hump, nothing in the...
Was up to fish Mon. evening, Tues., and Wed. Got into some big crappie - up to 14.5", gills up to 9.25" the first night. Then a cold front and high winds rolled in and shut the panfish down. Ended...
if I ran out of Reeve's while on the water, I was able to get them off the wall at Donner's. And maybe a quick cold one.
#1 = Midway. Also #1 for their burger plates. Good people that will earn your business.
Fished from noon to 6 on Tuesday - nothing. Tried way down on the south end, weeds, rock points, anywhere from 4 - 10 ft. Had 2 drops on tip ups, but also tried jigging. Then went up by Bastine...
Great things could be accomplished on the TFF, and I believe that as individuals acting legally we can do a fair amount of good. The dialogue here reflects the difficulty encountered in proposing...
was up Mon. - Wed., caught 3 muskies, 2 around 35" and 1 under 30. Lost a nice 40+ when he bored into the shorline rocks and sawed me off (80# spectra). 2 fish on bulldawgs, 2 on bucktails. Several...
up for a couple days with my family, so kept it to "action" fishing - panfish and bass. Any stump in 4 - 5' water had gills, rock bass, and an occasional smallie. Cribs were good on Friday but...
Fished Tues and Wed. Had my kids along so mostly panfishing with bobbers and 1/2 crawlers on 1/32nd oz. head. Hit the cribs briefly, not successful. As ususal, had to find "the" stump and once we...
