I've never fished it, but the New River, which is further south than the others mentioned, is worth exploring as well. I think it's better suited for 'river boats' but there may be larger pools too....

Consider a trip to the Kawartha Lakes area if you want a week trip. You can do it pretty cheap, have good action and fish multiple lakes/rivers. The drive isn't too bad either.
