Jay, don't rule out the west branch of the susquahana. If I remember right you are in state college area, so you are only a little over an hour away. I know new water can be intimadating, at least...
I have a close friend and fishing partner that has a degree in fisheries biology. The way he explained things to me is that its not really a water temp thing, but more of a disolved oxygen thing. In...
The west branch of the susquahana was between 62 and 68. The lower end was below and on the same side as the in flowing trout streams. Everything else was 67-68.
Jay, since you mentioned shorter trips, I would definatly put the Susquahana River on your short list. It has decent numbers with a few sows thrown in for good measure. Jmo.
I did a little looking on the web. I think I found it. I believe it's called a Mandarin Duck.
It sort of reminds me of a wood duck even though I know it's not. Could it be possable that they are related? Either way it is a beautiful bird!
I'm not sure about suckers, but I have a couple dozen fatheads in a 42 gal tank. They have been there since early in trout season. All I had to feed them was tropical fish flakes, wow did they go...
12 inch smallmouths hit bucktails hard enough to make you believe they are a 20 pound musky. If they do this on a short line and you have a superman hookset they come flying back at you at head level.
I think your guess is close too, but just a touch high. It would take a freakishly girthy 46 incher to weigh more than 30 pounds. My guess would be high 20's maybe 30. That is still a nice fish in...
A friend and I were on chautaqua 2 weeks ago in miserable post frontal conditions with east winds. We had lots of action (about 1 fish per hour followed) the only reason we didn't put any in the net...
Glad to hear that somebody is trying to do away with catch and kill rigs! I think they should lower it to anything 6 inches or larger. Just my opinion.
I have seen a few guys with short sections of pvc pipe fastened to their pedistal pole. That would be as cheap as I can think of.
I have to agree, suffix is good stuff. Thanks for the heads up on the new model coming out!
I also thought Rick Lax's replicas looked fake. That is until I saw them in person. His work is increadable. I would recomend Rick's work to anyone.
My #1 bait for muddy water is the large double bladed bucktails. Number 8 and larger blades seem to work best for me. As for color, I've had the most sucess with a black skirt and orange blades. Tail...
He uses colorado, indiana, french, and willow blades up to size 8. Lee may offer more styles and bigger sizes, but I know he offers the above mentioned as I have lures with these configurations. Hope...
Lee's blade baits are top notch. In my opinion, they are the best bucktails and spinnerbaits made. I have to agree that the smell skunk hair can make the differance between frustration and smiles and...
That's a tough question. I would like to fish with all the great fisherman listed above. I am sure they all do things a little differant than each other, and I'm sure they have a niche where they...
Way to go guys. I would be tickled with just one of those big gals. In fact, I hope to cross paths with one like them on Saturday.
I've noticed the same thing, Red. Until now I just thought I was crazy. However, I have seen some vividly marked pures that could be easily mistaken for tigers. ( the jury is still out on the crazy...
When I get askded if muskies are good to eat I answer honestly. I tell them I don't know because I release all of mine. Then I let them know that muskies are hard to catch, and unless they are...
Jay, we can go any time you want. It is easier to see what I'm trying to explain after draw down. Maybe we should do it twice. Once before so you have some info to go on this fall, and then once...
No need to track them down. Look for submerged wood, the bottom side of islands, and creek mouths. If you can find all three of these in one spot you just found the jackpot. I've never done well on...
Lowbidder, I have a few places on the susquahanna that would be a good test for your river pro.
