Okay, now for the $64,000 question: where iz da smelt?!!
Has anyone encountered suckers in the Esky area yet this spring? I'd like to pick up a few, both for smoking (maybe try some pickling too) and fertilizer for my compost pile.
I haven't been out there...but there are shacks out there and have been for over a week.
Why do people keep driving around Butler's Island--now or ever?? Still waiting for the inevitable "someone went through at Saunder's Point" post.
Good grief.
For a 6-pack of Guinness you can have it--cuz I haven't caught **** there!!
It seems this year so far it really has been about putting in your time to get the fish. Very hit and miss.
Thanks for the report, ray. Appreciate it!
I haven't been out now for a couple of weeks. Maybe late this afternoon in the narrows. We'll see.
True. Then again, I'd never drive a vehicle around Butler's Island--ever--no matter what kind of tracks there were around it. And also correct about the nasty pressure cracks. You drive off the...
I will put a plug in for the Quad 400. I've shot 4 deer with mine in the past two years. A very deadly and cost-effective unit.
I've got to believe that by this weekend (given the cold temps forecast for the next couple of days) that would be drivable ice in the upper bay. But, as you said, duck, I'm not going to be the first...
Ah, no, not everyone loves the Peck--er, I mean, Packers :p
I get the thing about people getting out there when they can...so I don't have a problem with people coming late and drilling holes. It is what it is. Okay.
But I don't get doing that AND setting...
I'm relieved that I wasn't the only one skunked tonight! :o Ditto on what Chris said: not many marks and the ones I did mark weren't interested. I tried just about everything in the tackle box.
I...
I took a drive up to the second yellow gate this morning just past the Day's River. The gate is open...I drove in there and spoke with a DNR officer who was cleaning up the landing area. I didn't go...
Thanks for the report. It does sound like there's good ice on most of the inland bodies of water.
You catching anything yet, TJ? From what I'm hearing from those who are getting out, it's a little slow yet.
I'm just having some fun with everyone ;) I should probably double-down on the emoticons :)
I have heard there's good ice on the inland lakes.
So let me get this straight: I type a headline that is a question and it's obvious what it is. Yet 300+ times it gets clicked...and nothing.
I mean, what did you THINK you were going to find if...
Anyone go out ice fishing this weekend (Dec. 17-18)? Inland lakes? Where's the ice and how much. Thinking about heading out early this week if there's safe ice somewhere.
I saw a couple of guys out fishing between the Kipling landing and Butler's Island today. A little too brave for my tastes--even if it is shallow there.
Chris:
Did they have a good turnout Sunday? My wife and kids were out of town, otherwise we would have definitely been there. I can't say enough good things about this great program the Fishing...
Nice. Thanks for the update. I was thinking of trying for some perch tomorrow.
Is that why the gulls were going crazy around Butler's Island yesterday? I thought maybe it was fish flies they were gorging on. There were hundreds and hundreds of gulls squawking and feeding on...
You haven't really arrived as an experienced trailer-light repair person until the day when you've spent hours and hours in vain trying to fix something...only to find out it was a fuse. Welcome to...
Thanks for the info, guys!
