Winnipeg River Update - May 23/10

Took my girlfriend out in the boat for her first sturgeon trip. We had to wait out a nasty thunderstorm before hitting the water, so conditions weren't great but she trooped it out and caught her first 3 sturgeon! No real monsters in the boat as they still haven't finished spawning. The temps were around the 55 mark so things should really improve as they finish up over the next week or so!

In the meantime the walleye and sauger have really moved into the area. With the wind and heavy tackle it's pretty tough to feel them, but we still managed about a dozen walleye and a bonus pike as well. We had constant hits and stolen bait throughout the day so with the right equipment, I bet the walleye fishing would be incredible right now!

If you're interested in a sturgeon trip, the next week could provide some of the largest fish of the season!
