Lake Bugs are here.

Mille Lacs is experiencing a major lake bug hatch. In talking with neighbors who have been around Mille Lacs longer than I, say this is one of the biggest bug hatches in recent memory.

Expect the bite to slow as the lake now has an abundance of food. Many bass will be feeding on the surface slurping the bugs. One might take advantage of this surface feeding but anglers who use small baits might have the best luck. For you fly fisherman this might be a great time to try Mille Lacs.....match the hatch.

Water temps: 59-60 degrees
Lake level: high, about a foot higher than normal pool
Clearity: Clearing need calming conditions to speed up.
