Fish university 2015

This Friday, March 13th, marks the annual Fish University at D. C. Everest Senior High School, a fund raising event for the Everest Fishing Team. The event, which runs from 5-9:00 PM, is open to the public and free of charge to attend. This year Fish University will for the first time in its existence feature 3 seminars, and again a fishing-themed raffle.

As in years past, the highly popular raffle will showcase a variety of products including dozens of lures, a St. Croix and Elk River fishing rod, guided fishing trips, a Frabill ice-fishing hub shelter and more. Friday the 13th may be the date synonymous with black cats, superstition and of course good ol’ Jason Voorhees, but it’ll be a great day to try your luck at winning some awesome prizes.

Fish University begins at 5:00 PM with Cody Hahner and Mark Hugus speaking on the college fishing experience. Cody and Mark are college students who graduated from high school locally and are now members of the University of Wisconsin–Stevens Point college bass fishing team. Together they were the winners of the 2014 Carhartt College Midwest B.A.S.S. regional, and will be on hand to share bass fishing tips, tricks and stories from the college tournament trail.

Bob Strand, a D. C. Everest alumnus and former Fishing Team member will present the second seminar of the night, “Match the Hatch for Muskies.” Bob is a musky tournament angler whose highlights last season include a 2nd place finish at the 2014 PMTT Ranger Boats World Championship and 3rd place finish for the coveted PMTT “Top Gun Team of the Year.” Currently residing and guiding in Minnesota when not on the tournament trail, Bob will share his secrets for locating and catching muskies no matter what body of what you’re fishing.

Headlining the evening is 2-time FLW Walleye Tour “Angler of the Year,” Jason Przekurat. A highly successful walleye tournament pro featuring career earnings well into 6-digit figures, Jason will be presenting a seminar entitled, “Using Todays Electronics.” Jason is an expert on utilizing modern technology to locate and score monster catches of walleyes, and will teach Fish University attendees how to raise their game to bag monster marble eyes on a consistent basis.

Fish University is an excellent even for an even better cause – supporting youth in fishing. 4 hours of seminars and fishing-raffles sounds like the perfect way to end the week; after all, spring is just around the corner! I’ll see you at Fish University…
