on top the hot spot

Just moved 3 of our 6 shanties to a waypoint I've fished for over 20 years.... I spent a few extra minuted getting on top of Waypoint 509 called "whitefish" on the HDS 10 mounted on the Ranger.... The bite is on...this spot has been historically good this time of year for both Perch and Whitefish.. while the other 3 shanties are on a whitefish only spot... We gotta be on top of the main "biomass" he because the camera is constantly full of whitefish.... All 6 shanties full again this weekend but some will be open the next 2 weekend... Keep in mind that March 15th marks the closure of the Perch season and the last day shanties can remain on the ice....

Saturday was a productive day for the shanties on "whitefish only" they ended with limit catches... while the shanties set for both perch and whitefish found a tougher bite with only a few perch and 25 whitefish....Lots of fish on the camera, but a little more traffic and changing current kept them off the bite during the morning hours with some activity from around noon till 2 p.m. We continue to experience excellent conditions with lots of safe ice and light snow cover making access easy! The month of Feb (so far) has been and easy month to fish, I can remember seasons with lots of snow, wind, and cold which made for challenging situations.... Let hope it keeps up for a few more weeks...
