2/15 Fishing Report

Despite the recent heat wave, the ice seems to be holding up well with the exception of some shorelines. In particular shorelines at Cherokee Marsh, by Captain Bill's and Lake Street by University campus have all experienced loss of ice. If you are aware of any other ice issues on the Madison Chain or anywhere else, feel free to post the information to be available for others.

Lake Mendota
Walleye anglers continue to have some success with many fish in the 15"-18" range have been caught, along with the occasional 24"-27" have been reported. Dunn's Bar, out from the Governor Nelson State Park, Commadore Bar and Second Point have producing walleyes as of late. The Northern pike bite has slowed, however there have still been reports of fish in the 24"-36" range being caught in Maple Bluff, Governor's Island, Spring Harbor and by the University Campus. Blue gill action continues to cause struggles.

Lake Monona
There has been random perch reports from Law Park and off Wylde Haven. Blue gill action in Monona Bay has tapered some with the recent runoff, but the triangle area continues to produce well. Some blue gill action continues to occur out from Olen Park.

Lake Waubesa
Perch reports continue to be sporadic. Some success has been found by the Bible Camp. Goodland and Christie's Bar area continues to be the prime destination for blue gill action. Look for fish in 2' to 5' of water.

Lake Kegonsa
Lake Kegonsa continues to create a challenge for fisherman of any kind. Perch reports are few and far between and blue gill action has been sparse at best.
