2/2/09 Fishing Report

Lake Mendota Northerns have been biting on a fairly regular basis in areas like off of Gov. Island, Northshore Bay, out from the Hatchcover, Spring Harbor, and along the Univ. shoreline. Use large shiners, go during the day in 10-25' of water. Walleyes have been spotty, with Gov. Island, County Park, and out from the Hatchcover being good areas to try. Perch fishermen have been struggling, although there have been several good catches reported in the last several days. Areas to try are out from Second Point and between Fox Bluff and Commodore. Fish in 75' of water, using Rat Finkies or Rockers tipped with spikes and don't be afraid to put on up to 5 or 6 spikes. Bluegills on Lake Mendota continue to be tough. Lake Monona Bluegill action continues to be decent in Monona Bay and the Triangles. There is also some fairly consistent action out from Olin Park. Perch fishing on Monona has been spotty, but some decent reports have come in from the eastern basin of the lake out from Hudson Park in 30-35' of water. Lake Waubesa Perch fishing has been spotty, with some action reported out from the Bible Camp. Most of the Bluegill action continues to be near Goodland Park. Lake Kegonsa Perch reports have been slow. They have still been catching some Bluegills and Bass on Crystal Lake. We've heard they have been catching some Crappies and Walleyes on Puckaway.
