Gil Hamm Chapter Challunge 2013 - Lake Vermilion

The annual "Gil Hamm" Chapter Challunge will be on Lake Vermilion from September 18-20, 2013. This event is a friendly competition between 6-person teams from Muskies Inc chapters around the country, vying for bragging rights and a traveling trophy.

The host for next year is Spring Bay Resort, on the west arm of Lake Vermilion in northeast Minnesota. I've stayed there quite a few times, and it is hands-down the nicest place I've ever stayed on a fishing trip: new cabins that have fireplaces, leather couches, wi-fi internet access, free long-distance phone calls, great kitchens, and comfortable beds. The owners are genuine people who treat you more like a friend.

They have reserved a 3-bedroom cabin for a team from our Capital City chapter, with a very affordable rate of $239 per person for the entire week of September 14-21. This is a special rate for the event, and they have waived the normal docking fees - so there are no "hidden" or additional costs beyond that rate. It also includes 3 free meals at the end of each competition day with the rest of the attendees.
