Lunker Report 11/24/09

Water temps continue to hover in the high 30s to low 40s in the
Eagle River area.

Muskie in the Eagle River area are locating over the hard bottom aprons
outside of weed edges and food shelf areas, near deeper water (12-25 feet).
Suckers in the 14-15 inch range are still the number one choice of baits.
Glide and jerkbaits are moving some fish and catching a few.
Primarilly the artificials act as "decoys" luring the fish into sight of the sucker.
Action is good, but would be
better if the warm temps would move out.

Walleye are locating over deep mud flats in 20-30 feet of water in the Eagle
River area. Use a jig and an XL fathead. Good action.

Crappies are hitting pretty well in the Eagle River area. Fish mud flats in
20-30 feet of water, where the crappies are suspending over structure, such
as cribs and brush piles. Use a crappie minnow or a smaller fathead under a
slip bobber.

Perch are providing good action in the Eagle River area, but are tough to
locate. Fish two locations: Outside of weed edges in 15 feet of water or
less, or over deep mudflats in 20-30 feet of water, where the perch are
hanging with the walleyes. Use a regular sized fathead on a jig.

Northern action in the Eagle River area is fair to good. Fish 15 feet of
water or less in and around weeds. Use a jig and a sucker minnow or a
crankbait.

With a good population this season, grouse hunters are in the Eagle River
area continue to enjoy success.
