2014 Season begins - exclellent fishing - first five trips out - five straight limits
It seems our harsh winter had no effect on the start of the 2014 season except for a slight, week or so-delay in waiting for the ice to melt in our harbor.
I began fishing last Sunday (4-13) for a fun trip and have been out four times since then with customers through yesterday (4-20). All five trips have resulted in limits of fish; mostly coho salmon but also along with some brown trout, lake trout, and a few steelhead. So it goes to show that while winds will often heavily influence where our fish will be, air temperatures (hot or cold) above the water have no correlation or predictable quality to how our fish will behave under the water.
We are fishing shallow water at the moment, less than a mile from shore and so far, our April weather has been beautiful too. We are very encouraged to see the season start with such excellent fishing already and we believe that for the most part, we should continue to see good results well through the month of May, into the beginning of June and possibly beyond, from a spring-fishing standpoint.
My near-term weekend availability is limited at this point but weekday mornings and afternoons remain.
Attached a few pictures from our first trips on the water this season.
