over all fishing is excellent and going to the next level of peak activity.
still most fishing multi species, walleyes been going nuts, lots of 150 fish days for guides, bass stupid, and finally now some big pike showing up 1 group has had 5 over 40" another 3 yesterday 38-40.
muskies as predicted a bit slow to start after last 2 weeks before opening we couldn't keep them away from baits and walleyes.they could be finishing or going through a spawning recoup stage which could/would put a % of them into suspension scattering pop even more or the water temp just plain and simple rose to quick and it's got to mix up a bit and they got to get used to it.
with the later developing weed growth they are definatly more scattered around and once weeds come up full growth location will be easier, some fish using shallow rocks and timber and most fish in numbers where schools of walleyes are.
it's not bad just not smoke'n hot yet, there have been some fish caught and really only have a couple groups fishing muskies more than a day or 2.
have heard of a 49,51,and 3-4 low-mid fortys caught.actually walleye fishermen have had just about as much action when coming to actually hooking muskys.
had hot flat (90+) going in fri-sat-sun water jumped to 70+,sat after check in a couple groups never been here went out and came back reporting numbers of follows several on-off but sun it slowed down. we all been avg seeing 5-8 fish a couple good ones losing 1 or 2 and someone catching one here and there, mon. a cool front (70) with some clouds and mist came in and i expected things to go off but it was about the same except for the most part they wee generally slower moving .
they seem to want the sun which is typical with the springs conditions.
mon-tues we got some wind to mix and stir things up evening surface temps on down a bit, should help, just talked to one boat came in for lunch and they reported better action seeing 6-7 and losing 2 nippers in a couple hrs. there have been some big fish 48" to up and over 50-55" moving it's just a late spring start but things are catching up fast, weeds now starting to come up good in many spots, water temps going up and evening out,it will just take a bit more time for the bigger deeper lakes to really turn on.
the smaller action lakes are doing good so the bigger lakes will be right behind
