The water temp was seen over 60 degrees yesterday and there was another day of nice sunshine today. The fishing has been excellent the last 3 days and will likely stay good as long as the weather is fairly stable.

There is a possible thunder boomer heading into the area later today, but perhaps it will slip around the edge of everything and not disturb the best stretch of weather and fishing we've seen so far this spring.

The only downside? The dandelion crop would be considered "bumper" this year and they grow back a day after mowing them down. I just don't have the ambition or energy to spray everything around the resort. I guess I'll be putting more hours on the John Deere lawn tractor mowing the buggers until they give up.

64-65 degrees on June 15.

More sun in the forecast.

Maybe the weeds will gain on the water level!

68 degrees at the gas dock first thing this morning (June 19.)

Weeds are looking pretty good according to a few people out there scouting.

Saw some low 70's on a lot of places on Saturday evening. Almost hit 74 in a couple of areas.

Surface temp at the dock this morning was 62ish. We lost some ground after the wind, rain and cooler temps.

I was out to hit a few spots last night (July 2) at 9:30pm and found some 66-67 degree water not too far from camp. Sun is out again today and the weekend looks like it will be warm as well so we should be back up in the 70's soon.

I got out Saturday night, July 4th at around 7pm and saw some 68-69 degrees in Sabaskong. It made 70 degrees in a few of the shallow weedy bays. More sun coming so it should climb some more.

72 in the same back bays the night of July 5. Saw some 68-69 in Miles Bay in the mid morning when I got out for a few hours on Sunday.

Was out last night (July 9) for 90 mins from 9-10:30pm. Did not see anything at 70 and saw some as low as 66.5. Highest was 68ish. Fished a couple shallow weed beds and one island shoreline.

66 on the surface at the dock this morning. It was up to 68 on one of the two spots I fished last night at 9:30pm after a sunny day.

We're still losing the ground we gain during the day with cool nights.

I purposely didn't check the temp yesterday and didn't plan to today, but a couple of rental boats were returned and I couldn't resist flipping on the depth finders to see what the water temps said. I wish I hadn't. I'm a sucker for punishment I guess.

62.4 degrees on one of the units and 63.1 degrees on the other.

One boat on each side of the gas dock. One of the them is set a little lower in the water because it's a different style hull.

Please don't shoot the messenger!!!

Would you believe 59.7 - 60.0 degrees on someones hummingbird graph this morning at the gas dock?

Was out for a few hours last night (July 18). Saw it as high as 65, but mostly in the 63-64 range. One day of sun helped a lot. More sun coming today.

Saw some 67 degrees in Sabaskong last night (july 19) when running up on plane. It was 65-66 degrees around 9pm when I got out to fish a couple of spots.

Got out a couple times over the weekend..once in the evening, once during the day and saw some water as warm as 71 degrees, but mostly in the 67-68 degree range.

Cooler overnight temps in the forecast again this week so we'll be lucky to sustain the gains we made.

We saw it at 70 in some places out west, but mostly 67-68 on Sunday. Was down under 63 this morning (Tuesday) at the dock, but the sun was out most of the day.

It's still up and down, but hopefully will stabilize soon.

Hey All,

Saw some surface temps near 71 degrees on Saturday evening and then mostly in the 69-70 degree range on Sunday noon.

Nights will be cooling off so this may be the warmest water we get for the rest of the season.

Did hear a report of 75 degrees during the hot sunny afternoon of the mid-week mini-heat wave.

Justin Gaudry
08-24-2009, 09:05 AM
Water started out at 66-67 degrees both mornings around 9am. Sunny both days so it climbed to 69-70 during the heat of the day. Saw some at 71.5 degrees in a shallow bay.

Some warms temps in the forecast for next week. If we can at least hold our own here and stay near 70 when the sun is out, we'll be doing well considering the weather patterns this summer.

Justin Gaudry
08-30-2009, 08:19 PM
Saw some 66.5 degrees today and that was the warmest we found. Mostly in the 65 degree range.

Justin Gaudry

Temps holding around 70 and above most places in the afternoons right now. Someone even saw 75 coming across the lake right on the surface when running on plane.

This is easily the highest sustained water temps of the year.

Wow...what a strange year.

Maybe we'll get to troll until Decemeber!

The Baudette forecast is calling for a cool down next week, but the weather is looking balmy through Sunday.

must have been a wild wedding party- you haven't posted in a long while!! too much crown?

Justin Gaudry
09-16-2009, 10:46 AM
Hey BB,

Not too much crown for me. Stayed off the sauce except for a half glass of wine for the toasts because I was planning to go to the local ER to get checked out for the aching back I had. Just my luck too. They had an open bar and I had a DD. BUMMER!

The party wasn't out of hand when I left, but I'm usually gone before that happens anyway.

See thread titled "laying low" for more details.

71 degrees at the end of the has dock tonight (9/18) at 6:30ish.

The crazy weather season continues. Supposed to be in the 60's by monday according to the weather reports. That will bring the temps down in a hurry with colder nights.

Justin Gaudry
09-24-2009, 10:45 AM
High of near 80 today with hot sun.

Water temps still 68-70 degrees.

Forecast now calling for cooler temps next week.

We'll have to wait and see.

Justin Gaudry

Water temp showed 63 degrees at the dock this morning as of 10am.

With a chilly north wind blowing hard and northeast coming tonight and tomorrow, we'll expect it to drop a little more.

Justin Gaudry
09-29-2009, 07:14 PM
Was 59ish at the dock Tuesday morning around 9am. Dropping fast and it's not even close to the cold overnight lows they are calling for soon.

Let's get ready to rumble with fall fatties!!

Wow, Ma Nature is making up for lost time...over 10 degree change in 5 days?! Fall is finally here.

Had reports ranging from 56 to 59 degrees in various parts of the lake over the weekend.

Forecast has well below normal temps for this week.

Justin Gaudry
10-04-2009, 03:25 PM
Had a scout out this morning and reported back seeing 52 degree water closer to the resort and 54 out further in a deeper area of the lake.

It's coming down nicely now.

Hi Justin
Did you get moved into the new house?I was up and closed the trailer up as cold weather is coming end of the week.Email me about later this month trolling and we'll see if we can get together.

Hi Jeff,

Yes, we did get moved everything moved into the house in Rainy. We started 7am Saturday morning and I got back to the lake at 11:30pm. UGH! I'm getting tired of loading and unloading UHAULs. I've lost count, but I think it's been 5-6 times with a truck and/or trailer in the last couple of years. I might get a free rental if I pay for one more. HA! Two loads in the next to biggest sized truck and the little place in town is full to the brim. The girls will be sorting it all out and organizing while I finish up here at the lake. Hopefully this will be the last big move for awhile. I didn't want to be a home owner again right now, but the rental market had nothing suitable to offer. At least we can leave most of our crap in this place.

Good idea to get the trailer drained this weekend. I drained 3 cabins and one of the water lines to the RV sites today and got another cabin and the rest of the campground water last Thursday after seeing the longer range forecasts.

If it keeps dropping this fast, I'll get chased off the lake early.

I'll definitely keep you posted on conditions up here. Hopefully we can get together for a couple of days before the ice gets too thick. We need to run a couple 14 inch jakes back and forth where you saw that possible 60 incher this summer! I'll get the net ready!!! :D

I snuck out yesterday for a few hours. Saw water temps mostly in the 54-55 range.

We do have 53ish here at the main dock in the back of our bay.

Dropping slower now at the moment, which is what we want for a long fall fishing season.

Colder temps coming according to weather people so we'll re-evaluate every few days.

Had a customer launch and go out east to close up his cabin this morning. When he came back this afternoon, he reported seeing 49 degrees in the bay and 50 degrees out towards his cabin.

Dang..dropping a little fast now. We want it to stay in this range as long as possible and drop nice and slow into the low 40's. :(

I'm not ready to start looking forward to sturgeon fishing in April yet.

Water temps dropped a little with the 3 snow falls over the weekend, but not as bad as I might have guessed.

We had 49-50 around the resort on Friday afternoon before the weekend blizzards and cold temps, but saw it at 46-47 degrees on Monday. A couple degrees warmer being reported further out in deeper water basins.

I did see some normal temps in the forecast by the end of the coming week so perhaps the dropping water temps will slow down a bit.

Should be getting close to prime time now!

Justin Gaudry
10-17-2009, 12:23 PM
Getting reports of 42 locally and 48 in some of the deeper water areas.

Tempearture forecast show near normal for the period so perhaps a few days of sunshine will stabilize water temps for awhile and keep them from dropping too fast.

Justin Gaudry
10-27-2009, 07:23 AM
Water temps in the 42-44 range most places the last couple of days. Very cold temps in the forecast next week so that might be the end of the line for us up here that are still trying to get out fishing.

Justin Gaudry
11-06-2009, 06:33 PM
Water temps in the 40-41 range in some areas on Nov 5. Been about 37 at the dock in the mornings. A couple of warmer days should hold them steady temporarily.

Hope to get out a few more days before it's all over for the season. Will post a report when I have the boat put away for the winter.

Good luck to those hunting whitetails in MN this weekend. Thanks for leaving the lake for us diehards to wander the lake all on our own!

Last day of fishing was Nov 18, 2009.

Water temps were in the upper 38s and low 39s where we were trolling. Did see some 39.5 in the afternoon sunshine.

Hate to pull the boat for the year, but it's time.

See you on the water temp thread in 2010.
