To sum up opener in a word it would be COLD. We had snow on Sat. morning and the temp has not gotten above 50 all weekend. There has not been any sunshine to speak of, only rain and cold windy conditions
We have had a hard time finding the walleyes this weekend. The water temp is 44 to 45 on the lake and some of the back bays are running around 52 to 54. We have been working the sand flats in 3 to 10 feet picking up a few fish and also been fishing the deeper points in 15 to 30 feet also finding a few fish. But neither area is producing more than a couple of fish per spot.
The northern fishing has been good. There has been several northerns in the 35 to 36 inch range and lots of the smaller one. They have been up in the shallow water along the banks, you need to look for a quiet sheltered bay out of the wind. I have been fishing for them with a 4 or 6 inch jerk bait and they seem to prefer the firetiger color.
