The first five days of the season have shown some pretty decent results. With the cool weather on the opener, walleyes were a little tentative. They were biting but were hitting very light. With the warmer weather the last couple of days, and today in particular, they started slamming the baits much more aggrssively.

We've been catching our fish on jigs tipped with either fatheads or half crawlers. Flowage fish have been coming from shallow water, mostly in the 5 foot range. Lake fish have been a little deeper in the 12 to 20 foot range.

Crappies are being caught in weedy bays staging out from spawning areas in 6 to 10 feet of water. Jigs and plastics or crappie minnows under a bobber will do the trick.

A predicted cold snap for the upcoming weekend may slow things temporarily but once the weather straightens out after that and the water temps rise a bit the good fishing should continue.
