Looks like the opener should be a good one for panfish and gamefish.
The walleye's are just about done spawning but a few are still being caught with eggs in them. 1/8 oz Jigs and Muds are the bait of choice use org/green with red hooks, the walleye's are just slamming these, no need to wait to set the hook. Some anglers are fishing the dam areas but we are finding better sized fish out in the lake. We have been working the shallows about an hour before sunset with Rapalas and doing well. With the cooler weather again we downsized from a # 11 to a # 9 in a perch pattern. Make sure to dress for the cooling temps as the sunsets.

Anglers fishing for crappies have some of the best action in years, some very nice crappies are being caught with some in the 14 inch size. Fishing Guide Ken Mack took a group of anglers out for a days trip and did they catch the crappies, needless to say these anglers had some big smiles on their faces!! On Mohawksin the trestles are holding some nice fish small jigs and plastics are catching most fish. Try Berkely Power Nymphs with a 1/32/oz green jig.

Anglers panfishing on Nokomis are reporting good action on Bluegills, small bobbers and icefishing jigs tipped with a waxie or a piece of a leaf worm working well. These gills are moving into shallow water as the sun warms it up.

Pike are cruising the shallow bay areas feeding on just about anything that moves. Minnow type baits, spinnerbaits or smaller bucktails are all catching fish on Mohawksin.

By the info we have from the bass anglers, action on these strong fighters shoud be good.

Water Temps on Mohawksin this week taken 3 feet below the surface is 54 degree's.

Good Luck

How long do you see this feeding frenzy lasting for? Seems like Tomahawk is the place to be right now.

It seems like the water is a little warmer this year than last year. If I remember right I think the water was in the middle to upper 50's when we were up there the first week of June.

Very good reports this morning (Friday) on Crappies and Gills. Nokomis is the place to be for Gills, just fish the shallow wood structure. Crappies on Mohawksin are very active, reports are the Somo trestle and the Jersey Trestle.
