Is the water open along the rocks near Chamberlain yet? I am wondering if it is worth a three hour drive from NE Nebraska to try for some of those shore walleyes I've heard many anglers talk about. I have an 18ft Lund and have a trip planned for there in a few weeks but don't really want to pull that up there for a day of fishing. Is the bite from the shore that hot when it takes off?

The shorelines are open for the most part. Some of them are blocked periodically as ice moves down the river. This time of year the shorefishing can be real good, but not consistent. The best shorefishing is probably 2 weeks away. Then it is really good.

I heard through the grapevine that they are catching fish on the rocks from shore. Also the river is now wide open. The marina ramp is open.
