With ice out still a few weeks off, the panfish bite remains better in deep water on most lakes. Warming temps. should increase activity and catches. Crappie are suspending 2-6 feet off the bottom in 35 feet of water or less over mud flats. Use a Crappie minnow under a slip bobber or a wax worm on a small jig to catch a mix bag of sizes.
Bluegills have been active in the same areas as the Crappie and hitting good through out the day and afternoon. wax worms on a small jig has produced the best bite, with some fish coming on small plastics.
Perch still remain active on the mud flats in the same area. Minnows, waxies, spikes, and wigglers all working well. Mobility on the ice is great and should be used, a mobile angler with electronics will come home with a good meal of fish. Some fish are being caught in the weeds but as of lately with the abnormal weather the better bite remains deeper.
Good luck.
