End of 2008 and 2009 begins. We certainly had an interesting December. 46inches of snow here some very cold weather around zero and we are just getting some pretty good ice. The ice in many places is tregereous to say the least with all the shove ice and some areas are relativly smooth.

We recently had a ship leave Green Bay and a big chunk of ice broke off and took around eleven people for a ride with all there vehicles and equipment much to there dismay I am sure. USCG and local fire dept had to rescue all. So be careful out there!

There is some White Fish action in 12-18ft. of water off the shorlines. Northern action in all the Bays 10-20ft. of water useing Golden shiners. Perch action is starting to pick up, still hard to get out in the deeper water off Choudoirs and such as the people above found out.

My Son-IN-Law was out yesturday and was bit off twice early in the morning by some big Northern or Muskies and landed a monsterr Perch 14.5inches long in the back of one of the bays. There has been a quite a few smaller Northerns caught though.

We are going to start getting our hard shacks out now for ice fishing ice is running 4-15inches thick depending where you are.
Good Luck

Any general locations/accesses that you would concentrate on the whitefish at? What sort of area do you look for when it comes to perch up that way?

Thanks for any info you can help with...coming up next week and have never been...hoping to have a successful trip.

If you are looking for White Fish we have been fnding them on the rocks just about anywhere. Hendersons Point area has been exceptional. Perch we usually find off Ernies or Choudiors dock area 30-50ft. of water just off the bottom. Watch the ice out there we had some people go for ride just a week ago and had to be recued.
Good luck
